About Me

The vision of  Ironquest Otterhounds started in 1991 when I first saw an Otterhound at Westminster. I am Joellen Gregory, DVM, a small animal veterinarian in Maryland. I have a special interest in reproduction and work at a 5-doctor general practice small animal clinic in Sandy Spring, MD.

I believe in Otterhounds that can excel in performance as well as conformation and strive to breed healthy dogs that can be successful in any capacity their owners wish.

I enjoy many sports with my own dogs - we spend our free time in the conformation ring as well as running agility, tracking, playing with obedience and rally.

I am a member of the Otterhound Club of America (former board member) and currently am the AKC Delegate for the Otterhound Club of America. I serve on the OHCA Health Committee and helped with the recent revision of the OHCA Code of Ethics. I believe strongly in open communication between breeders and owners alike to improve the health of our hounds.

I also was a two-time AKC veterinary scholarship recipient and enjoy giving back to the dog fancy - whether in the form of talks to dog clubs, performing blood draws at shows or just discussing health issues with owners and breeders.

When I'm not involved with the dogs, I enjoy hockey (Capitals), baseball (Orioles) and football (Bills). I also enjoy skiing and travel and am a special connoisseur of Smithwicks.
